Why auto insurance cost what it does?

There are lots of factors that come into play when it comes to auto insurance premium.  You have location, age, driving record, insurance score, vehicle, etc. 

But why would one car that has the same market value cost more than the other?  Or why would two cars that are completely difference cost the same?  How is that determined?
